Avalanche Companion Rescue Skills
Rescue MED is a member of the Canadian Avalanche Association.
We are pleased to offer the following Avalanche Safety Training course:

The Companion Rescue Skills course builds on an AST 1 decision-making foundation. Based on the most advanced knowledge available, the Companion Rescue Skills course is suitable for people with AST 1 training, recent or not, and may be taken on a yearly basis. The Companion Rescue Skills course is aimed at all back country recreationalists: skiers, snowboarders, snowmobilers and snowshoers.
Course Contents include:
- Consider and incorporate preventative measures.
- Prioritize actions if caught in an avalanche.
- Understand the function of airbags.
- Understand transceiver functions and practice transceiver skills.
- Apply search and rescue techniques.
- Practice searching without a transceiver.
- Consider multiple burial situations.
- Organize a group rescue.
- Identify post-incident considerations.
Companion Rescue Training is presented in both a mechanized
and non mechanized format for both types of back country users.
